Each year the 5th grade class from Platteville Elementary participate in the Arbor Day Celebration where awards are presented and a tree is planted on their behalf. This year Platteville was recognized as a 10th annual Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
In late April 2014, Platteville Police Department assisted Weld County and surrounding local agencies for Valley High School to do an Every 15 Minutes Demonstration for drunk driving prevention.
The Town of Platteville is now using the Everbridge system to communicate with area businesses and residents in minutes in the event of an emergency and to provide important community information. With the Everbridge system, the Town of Platteville will be able to alert residents and businesses about severe weather issues, road closures, utility maintenance, law enforcement matters along with other important community information. Messages can be sent to individuals using a variety of contact mechanisms– cell phone, land-line, email, text messaging, fax, pager, and more – ensuring that residents and businesses receive emergency information and important public service announcements in minutes. Citizens and businesses listed in the local Yellow / White Pages will be automatically subscribed to alerts by land-line, though any individual may self-register, provide additional contact information or opt out. The Town of Platteville is offering an online bill payment option for our utility. The Town of Platteville has contracted with Xpress Bill Pay to provide a safe and secure payment option. Payments can be made with Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, or personal/business checking or savings accounts. A $0.50 convenience fee will be assessed with each transaction made online or over the phone.
The Town of Platteville is situated along the east bank of the South Platte River at the intersection of US Highway 85 and Colorado Highway 66 in Weld County. Located just fifteen (15) miles southwest of Greeley and thirty-seven (37) miles northeast of downtown Denver. Platteville has easy access to major business, shopping, and cultural centers and is only thirty-six (36) miles from the Denver International Airport (DIA).
The estimated 2007 population is 2,708 and the average household size is 3.02 (estimate by State Demography Office).
