Pay a Ticket / Fine
After receiving a ticket, the fine is due within 20 days.
If you wish to pay a fine before your scheduled court date, you may do so in most cases. If you choose to appear in court, there will be an additional fee of $30 for court cost. Platteville Municipal Court is held once a month and begins at 1:00 pm. Many summonses are payable in advance of court and, if paid, do not require a court appearance. If the summons states an amount for the fine and surcharge, payments can be made with check or money order in advance by mail or in person at the Platteville Municipal Court during our business hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Payment of all fines, costs, fees, and restitution is due and payable in full immediately upon plea of guilty or a finding of guilty. By paying the fine, you are pleading guilty to the charged offense. Based upon the payment, a conviction would be entered. If the charge is a violation of the Model Traffic Code, a report of the conviction would be made to the Colorado Motor Vehicle Division and points would be assessed on your driver's history. The number of points for each offense should be indicated on the summons.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Platteville Municipal Court. Payments should be accompanied by the Gold copy of the summons, signed by the Defendant.
Mail your payment to:
Town of Platteville
Platteville Municipal Court
400 Grand Ave
Platteville, CO 80651
The Court will accept payment up until the close of business two days prior to your court hearing. If you wish to make payment after that, $30 in court costs will be added to the amount on the face of the summons. If the summons does not state an amount for a fine, payment in advance of court is not permitted. A court appearance by the defendant is necessary.
Municipal Court Authority
Platteville Municipal Court has authority over violations of the Platteville Municipal Code. All charges require an appearance in Court. Town ordinances, Court rules, and Colorado State Statutes govern Court proceedings. Municipal Court employees are not allowed to give legal advice, but are happy to answer procedural questions.
Platteville Municipal Court is a court of record that hears misdemeanor and traffic offenses of alleged violations of Town of Platteville ordinances. It also provides services to offenders that received Community Services or Specific Classes ordered by the Court.
Information on this site applies only to Platteville Municipal Court. Some summonses written by Platteville Police Officers are written into Weld County Court. If a ticket is not gold and/or was not issued by a Town of Platteville Police Officer, your charges were written into another court which should be designated on the face of the ticket.
Collections
Fines and costs must be paid as soon as the defendant has appeared in Court. If the defendant is unable to pay at the court date, they must fill out a financial affidavit and speak with the Court Clerk. The Court Clerk will determine, after review of the financial affidavit, if the defendant is eligible to be placed on a payment schedule. If the balance of the fines and costs is not paid off within 7 days of sentencing, a $25 stay of execution fee will be added to the case.
